Ensure you are well-rested and have eaten before your appointment to help manage discomfort. It's important to avoid alcohol and caffeine for at least 24 hours before your session as they can increase bleeding. Wear comfortable clothing that provides easy access to the area being tattooed. Additionally, bring a valid ID for age verification and any reference images you’ve discussed with your artist.

Keep the tattoo covered with a sterile bandage for the first few hours as advised by your artist. After removing the bandage, wash the tattoo gently with mild, unscented soap and lukewarm water. Pat the area dry with a clean towel and apply a thin layer of the recommended ointment. Avoid soaking the tattoo in water (like in baths, pools, or hot tubs) and direct sunlight for at least two weeks. Keep the tattoo moisturized and clean to prevent scabbing and fading.

The healing process typically takes about two weeks for the outer layers of skin to appear healed and up to four months for the complete healing of all the layers of skin. It's crucial to follow your artist's aftercare instructions to ensure proper healing and avoid complications. During this period, continue to keep the area clean, moisturize regularly, and avoid scratching or picking at the tattoo.

We highly recommend scheduling a consultation, especially for custom designs or larger pieces. This allows you to discuss your ideas, preferences, and any concerns with one of our artists. Consultations also give the artist a chance to sketch preliminary designs and ensure you're comfortable with the plan before your tattoo session.

After getting a tattoo, it's crucial to protect it from sun exposure to prevent fading and damage to the healing skin. For the first two weeks, keep the tattoo completely covered when outside. Once the tattoo has healed, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to the tattooed area whenever you are exposed to the sun. This not only protects the skin but also helps maintain the vibrancy of your tattoo colors.

It is important to avoid swimming, including in the ocean, until your tattoo has fully healed. Ocean water contains salt and various microorganisms that can cause infections in a fresh tattoo. Typically, you should wait at least three to four weeks before going swimming. This wait time allows the tattoo to heal sufficiently and forms a protective layer over the ink. If you must be near the ocean, keep the tattoo covered and dry to avoid complications.
